JOINING THE PATROL:

The Patrol would welcome the opportunity to have you become part of our organization.  Nothing more than a valid driver's license, an SCC Community Association membership,  and a willingness to help the community are needed.

You may choose to be a Patrol Driver, a Patrol Dispatcher, or do both.  And, with some time and experience, you may want to "move up the ranks" to Deputy Captain, Team Captain, Deputy Chief, or Chief of Patrol. All that is required is desire and motivation.

Daytime drivers work a fixed-time-of-day 3-hour shift, the same day of the week on an every-other week basis.  Night shift drivers only work one night per month, but on a rotating shift basis: 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM, 9:00 PM to 12:00 AM, and 12:00 AM to 2:00 AM
First things first:  You must be a resident of Sun City Center and complete an Application.  Click on this Application Form Link and you will be directed to an Application Form which you can print using your browser's "Print" function.  When done printing, return to this page by clicking on the small "Back" button.  After completing and signing the Application Form, mail or bring it to Patrol Headquarters at 1005 North Pebble Beach Boulevard.  Click on the Map Link below to find us.

You will then be contacted by a member of the Patrol to set up a date for your Orientation Session.  The Orientation program will provide you with the basic information on how we conduct ourselves as Patrol Members, and what will be expected of you.  Click HERE for details on the Orientation Session.  Following that "blackboard training", a Deputy Captain or Captain will take you out in one of our Patrol Cars and instruct you on the use of the special equipment in the car, including proper two-way radio use.  You will then be assigned to ride with an experienced driver to become further acquainted with your new role.

Dispatcher Training Classes are also held on a regular basis.  Trainees can also work with an experienced Dispatcher as many times as necessary until they are comfortable with the duties.
If your questions haven't been answered here, click on Frequently Asked Questions for more information.  In particular, if you have questions about your physical abilities to perform the work, or concerns about safety, you will find many answers to those questions there.
